It will be 90-degree rule today. Please watch for the wet areas and drive around.
Just a friendly reminder, beginning Wednesday October 1st, our Golf Shop hours and starting time begins at 8:00. Moving ahead to the future, our Golf Shop hours and starting time will adjust through the year based on sunrise and colder temperatures. May through September we will begin at 7:00 AM. March, April, October, and November will begin at 8:00 AM. December, January, and February will begin at 9:00. With the sunrise getting later in the Fall, this adjustment in starting time will allow the Golf Course Crew to see better and get ahead of the golfers starting time. When it moves to 9:00, it's more about the better possibility of frost delays and not having members here waiting for 3 hours to tee off. Please feel free to come use the range before we open. Just remember to get your range balls the prior day.
The Course restrooms are open for the season.
With the cooler temperatures coming and the grass slowing down, please be mindful to not cause wear areas by driving over and over the same spots.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO REPAIR YOUR BALL MARKS AND RAKE YOUR BUNKER SHOTS.
When using range balls at the practice green, please remember to bring the range balls back to the Proshop or the club repair room when you have finished practicing.
This is the time of the year we begin to raise the mowing heights of greens, tees, and fairways to prepare for Winter. At the same time, we will begin to reduce the growth regulator we put on the greens. Do not be surprised to see the speed of the greens slow down until the cooler weather moves in.
The bunkers on #3 will be open for play Wednesday October 22nd. Expect the sand to be soft until it settles. I have to wait about 6 weeks until I can use a plate tamp to pack it so the capillary concrete does not crack. We will be using a new hand rake for these bunkers. Its, called the bunker wizard. It looks like a paint roller without the fluffy roller on it. Once you hit your shot, just put the rake at the end of divot and pull towards you. The rake will leave a much smoother finish than the old rakes do. If you have any questions, just ask and I'll show you.
We will add more fescue areas to the course. We will add fescue left in #1 rough, the big triangle from #3 fairway to #7, and the remainder between #4 and #6 rough. With any seed left over, we will find some out of play areas that we mow at the time.
